Pool lights tend to fail slowly and then all at once. Catching the warning signs early can save you a bigger repair. Here's what to watch for, and what we do about it.
Signs it's time to call
- The light is dimmer than it used to be, or has an odd color cast.
- It flickers or cuts out while it's on.
- You can see fog, condensation, or water inside the lens.
- The breaker or GFCI trips when the light is switched on.
- The fixture looks loose in the wall, or the trim ring is corroded.
- It's simply dead.
Any one of these is worth a call. Several at once usually means the fixture is near the end of its life.
If the light is tripping the breaker or has water inside, turn it off and leave it off until it's checked.
How we fix it
Pool lights are our only line of work. Our techs start by figuring out why the light failed, then recommend the simplest fix that will last. Depending on the cause, that could be:
A replacement. A new bulb, lens, gasket, or complete fixture.
An LED upgrade. If you're running an older halogen or incandescent light, switching to LED cuts power use, lasts much longer, and often adds color options.
Honest advice. If we find a problem that needs a licensed electrician or a larger repair, we'll tell you directly instead of attempting work outside our scope.

Why homeowners choose a specialist
Doing one thing every day makes us faster at it. It also keeps our overhead low, so our prices are typically lower than a full-service pool company's.
